Red Savina Habanero pepper

The Red Savina isn’t just hot—it’s a piece of pepper history.

This variety belongs to the Capsicum chinense species, known for producing some of the hottest and most flavorful peppers in the world. The Red Savina was selectively bred in California by Frank Garcia, who spent years isolating plants for both extreme heat and deep, rich flavor.

For a time, it held the title of world’s hottest pepper, putting it firmly on the map. With a heat range of 350,000 to 580,000 Scoville units, the Red Savina delivers serious fire—but it’s not just about intensity. Beneath the heat is a bold, slightly fruity, almost smoky depth that makes it far more than just a burn.

Why we use it
The Red Savina is our go-to when we want to bring real heat without sacrificing flavor. It adds weight, depth, and a lingering intensity that anchors our hotter blends. It’s the backbone of the burn.
